Major & Minor Minerals
The department of Geology and Mining has played a vital role in overall economical development of state by providing various mineral deposits having enabled the Government in granting of various Mining Leases and Prospecting Licenses. Besides the department has contributed a lot in Govt. exchequer by providing huge revenue of the Major as well as Minor Mineral wealth of J&K State.
There is a wide scope of Mineral Resources in J&K State. The important minerals are Limestone, Gypsum, Dolomite, Quartzite besides building stones like, Slate, Marble, Granite etc.
